This year, I’m thankful for a lesson well-earned,
The value of a good friend, a treasure discerned.
In dreams one day, I came to realize,
I’m all about the hello’s, never the tearful goodbyes.
Here one moment, in the blink of an eye,
Gone the next, but please don’t sigh.
It’s not that I don’t care, or worse, despise,
I cherish the moments when we reunite, to both our surprise.
The joy in your smile when we meet anew,
Fills my heart with warmth, love, and a paisley hue.
Happiest I am when we share our view,
Grateful for the love, knowing it’s true.
You’ve taught me it’s okay to be apart,
Yet still be cherished, still hold a heart.
I’m hopeful for the future, a fresh start,
The next time our paths cross, this lesson is your work of art.
